  • Syncrowave 180

Hey guys the wife is getting ready to order my Syncrowave 180 but I was wondering which way to go. If you were buying one which would you go for, The Syncrowave SD 180 or The Syncrowave SD 180 Runner. I can get the Runner for about $140.00 more with the running gear. Do you think it is worth the extra $$ or do you think it would be better just to build the cart?

    Thanks

    up too you

it realy is up to you, lots of people build there cart as the first project. i did for my MM135 and will again for my dynasty when it arives.some have built carts that suited them better than the kit could have. others just want to put it togather and start on other thing's
you can build it cheeper than you can buy it, just depends on weather you want to or have the time to build.

bet that didnt help much a.
    thanks for the help
    ......or..........
    hope i helped

if you plan on building your cart buy some strong HD wheels for it. I had my dealer order the same kind of rear wheels that are on my MM251, the front casters I ordered from MSC, the 180 is one heavy MO-chine.

I thought about building a cart before I ordered mine but decided to just get the running gear cause I was working out of town and did not have the time to make a cart. If I were to order another I would get the running gear.

          syn 180

I would get the running gear as it will hold your gas bottle as well. Make your first project a welding table or something else.

I made my own cart for the 180SD. I used solid rear wheels, and two swivel casters in front, both from HF. I was sure to get the casters of the right size so that they were the same height as the middle of the wheel (so the cart sits level). The whole works was WAY less than the $140 you mentioned, but more importantly, I like the idea of a welder sitting on a cart that it was used to make. I did the same with my first MIG.

Having said that, I really don't use the cart all that much. The welder sits next to the welding table, and most things fit on the table within reach of the torch lead. Depending on your needs, you could almost get by without a cart.

My syn 350 has a cart but it too just sits their. I move it to change the gas cylinders everynow and then. Oh yeah I sweep behind it at least once a year.

Thanks for the help guys. You all gave me some good ideas. But I still can't make up my mind. I think since the wife is buying this for me I will let her read over your posts and let her decide which way to go. Either way I come out a winner Right. Can't wait till it gets here.

                    Thanks

I say ask them to throw in the cart, those machine have been on the block pretty heavy around here. You don't ask you don't get. You don't ask like you mean it, and you still don't get.

Make sure your wife knows that having a supportive spouse isn't something that you take for granted. My wife sure does !

I'll try, it's been a while though. At the least, I'll get some measurements.

I can say that when I went to the store, I held up the front wheels to the rear ones and saw where they lined up. It was pretty easy to eyeball and see that with the axle mounted on the bottom of the frame, the casters would be the same height. If you're ordering on-line, well, that's a bit of a problem...

Thanks INTP. Don't put yourself out on my account INTP, If you can find the numbers when you have time that would be great, if not don't worry about it. I don't have a store near me so ordering them is my only option. Thanks

Sparky, did you get your syn 180 yet? Give zir-tun a try for your AC aluminum tigging. HAWK turned me on to this and it works great.
