    GaryM,

The Sylvania tungsten is "suppossed" to have a better quality control than some other brands. For the present I find it does a good job and would hate to change to save a buck or two. There are other good tungsten alloy manufacturers out there and don't be afraid to try them. Once you have a brand you like, stick with it unless you have reason to change. The GTAW process is one of consistency. Eliminate variables and your trouble shooting becomes easier.

The Turbo Sharp is a nice unit, but I would save a little extra for the Piranha II. It is a much heavier constructed unit with a very nice sharpening wheel with some interchangeable grit options.

    Gary,

Coming from a distributor, Sylvania is more expensive, but it's like with most things if you want a better product then you pay for it, i know Sylvania also makes Tungsten for Bestwelds Tungsten, but i only use Sylvania, as for a reason other then belief that it's better without any acutal proof, i have no idea.

Pjseaman its not 3/4 aluminum, its 3/4" aluminum sch 40 pipe.

Wrench3047 I am not needing to weld the inside just the out side. I notch one end of the tube and to a T joint.

I saw that model on saturday at PRI really nice but low amperage and lower duty cycle, than the #20. Depends on your work, definently not the 3/4" Aluminum.

    Peace,

This one might be small enough to do the inside of that tube.

What is so good about Sylvania Tungsten? I see it cost a bunch. Is the extra cost worth it?

It worked good. I think maybe more cleaning and move back to a pure argon (50he/50argon was kinda a experament) should solve some of the problems I am having. Plus its 3/4" sch 40 aluminum pipe hard to keep the torch in correct position. Kinda been looking for a smaller torch head. I use the 20 that came with the dynasty. Any sugestions?

Also Hawk what you think about the CK worldwide turbosharp-3 I can get a demo model for $480 what you think?
