You may have some luck with the larger electronic component distibutors such as Future Electronics www.futureelectronics.com, or Arrow components, www.arrow.com.

They will generally supply the solder for the electronics industry and the suppliers of that solder will also produce silver solder.

Digikey may also have some silver solder. Check them out at www.digikey.com.

I did a quick search on silver solder from DigiKey

      Here is the link:

      I hope this helps.

      Cheers,

45% goes for $9.50/troy ounce! Methinks a "big" roll gonna set you back!

            Mig,

Why silver? I use 50/50 tin/lead, and it works fine. Melts a little lower too, so you don't loosen up everything close by. Unless you've got some nasty duty radiator, I'd think it'd work for ya!

Thats a good question Hank, It's not for me it's for a friend of mine who owns his own radiator shop and he absolutely insist on silver solder. It's all he ever uses and i don't know if i could persuade him to use something else.
He sent me to get him some awhile back and that Sh*t cost 69.00 plus tax. I couldnt believe it so i told him i would try to find it somewhere else cheaper.
I did manage to find a site that has 1 pound spools of.125 for 11.00 plus shipping.

By the way you need some tungsten? I was bugging my welding supplier the other day about getting some free stuff since i spend all my money in there and he gave me 2 10 piece packs of 2% thoriated tungsten 1 pack is 1/16 the other is 3/32 and told me to get out. He was trying to be funny because he knows i dont have a tig welder,But you know what? I took them anyway.
I am on very good terms with my local supplier.

Umm. Am I missing something or is this the worng solder?

Digikey, who ships to your door next day delivery has SOLDER SILVER ALLOY RA FLUX 1LB and the price breakdowns are as follows:

                  1 - 17.25ea
                  10 - 15.52 ea
                  ....
                  100 - 9.17 ea

It seems that this is far cheaper than your method. Is this solder not applicable to rads?

                  Just trying to help.

if you want solder then go to a stained glass place. i work for one and we use it all the time on windows. but we use 50/50. we get it from a place called CR Lawrence. i think we get it for $5 something for a 1lb. spool when we buy 50 lbs. but we also do buy a lot of stuff from them. we probably spend about $3,000 each time we order from them. i believe they also have 45% and other kinds. i'll look up their web site at work if i cant find it tonight
