looks like u gonna need 30 inches of 1/4 3/8 and 1/2 round rod ...make one piece into a v shape 4 inches on each side of the v. the main part of the finger is 18 inches long with a 90 degree bend at 15inches. each size rod will make diffrent sized fingers. i will try to get a pic of the actual blueprint on here some time tomorrow

I gonna redesign this thing to make it easier....take a 3" x 1/4" rod and weld to it in the center another rod, "L" shaped pointed on the end and bent 90° 2" in from the end, so that it looks like a gaff...(you fishin guys should know that one). It really doesn't need to look like a stick man. You can either put a weight on it, or just rest your hand on it. You can make it out of anything that will do the same job...flat bar, rebar...you're only limited by your imagination.

It is called a "welders finger", It was 1/4" rod about 12 or 14" with one end pointed and bent at a right angle 2" from the end. The other end had two 2" pieces welded at the apex of about 30° to that end. It was bent so that it stood on three points. Kinda like a stickman with no arms, his pointed nose is what holds what your welding. I found it in a book of welding projects at Lowes....there was no description on how to use it, but I made a few of them, even though I had no clue as to how to use it until cope just emailed me about it. Then it all made sense...hahaha I'm laffing at myself over that one! Even still, I wouldn't rely on it to do tacking, always, however it could come in handy for some things, I suppose.

I've seen them before. They also advertise them as a tool for soldering also. Basicly it's a couple of alligator clips from a wiring kit on adjustable arms with a magnifing glass postioned overhead the clips. I used one once but it is only for real small parts you would need a magnifing glass to look at well I.E. real small wire 22ga. They may make a larger one than the one I used but pictures can be deceiving without a point of reference in the picture.

RockyD at Hobart posted a picture of some he had made. You ought to post this over there. I thought I had a picture of them but I can't find it.
