what's the red wire (looks like a wire) coming out of your Spectrum's front grill? Just curious!

wow good eys. didnt think any 1 would notice

i put in a foot controle, as most of the use of my spec. is for decrative work and trying to use the torch as intended dosent realy work that well on some of the more delicat stuff. i looked into trying to alter the torch as well but havent come up with the ideal setup yet. but the foot controle alows me to hold the torch any way i want to make the more dificult cuts
      thanks for the help

what kind of heater do you have in there ?

        its a Mr.Heater.
it runs off of 20lbs propain tank's like you use on a grill. it has 3 heat settings, and i put a fan on the celing to help push the hot air around and 2 tanks under the work bench.it will run off a 1lbs cilender also if you wanted to go mobil with it or you can hook up 2 ea. 20lbs tank's. i run it off 1 20lbs tank and keep the other on standby so when it runs out i just switch and go refill when it is convienant. it's like 30,000btu's on high so it takes the chill of quick and then i turn it down to save gass.
so far it has worked well but true winter isent here yet so we will see
        thanks for the help

dug up a few better pic's for ya.
it realy is a lot more work than it looks. it is all made of 14gage steel with multiple coats of primer and krylon paint.

i realy injoy working with steel or there is no way i would make and sell them for so little, in comparison to what goes into making them

Fun4now could you show us how you mark such detail cuts? I think I remember I read somewhere you trace it with a marker then go over it with a engraver. Is that right?

i use carbon papper to get the outline on the steel then i go over that with an engraver because the heat from cutting and your hand rubbing as you cut will take the desine off if you dont engrave it into the steel. i tryed all kinds of ways to keep the desine wile cutting and it seemed mostly i was wipeing it off befor i could cut it. after lots of agravation i decided to try the engraver and have been using it ever scence.
just use regular office carbon papper to get it on the steel then go over it with the engraver to keep it there wile you cut it.
                    thanks for the help

                      foot controle

when it comes to cutting it out i have found that the torch is a lil hard to manoover wile holding the trigger. so i added a foot controle to alow me to hold the torch any way i want and not have to hold the trigger. i have even taken the torch apart to hold it like a big marking pen and using the foot controle to controle the cut arc. i am still working on a better torch setup somthing like the computer controled cutting tables use would be great as they are like a big pen but none like that will adapt to my small cutter.. i even asked miller to make 1 for the spec.125c as it is more for the artsy fartsy type and we are not used to the standerd torch as "artists" not welders. but i'm not holding my breath waiting for a more user frendly vresion from miller and i keep looking to improve it myself.

long and short of it is the foot controle alows for much more flexibility when trying to be artsy.
                      thanks for the help

Have you evere seen one of those tracers?
I think that I saw one in the sears tool catalog or a wood working cat.
They are used to cut a pattern out with a router.
surely a torch could be adapted to the router end

                                Dea

i think i saw 1 of thouse at sears but it was just to cut letters from there letter jig. i havent seen 1 for coppieing abstract patterns but i'll look and see if i think it can be adapted if it isent too much $$$ . the foot controle will be a definet help if it can be done.it will have to wait till after the dynasty 200 DX right now that is priority 1
