  • Andy, filler size for .120 wall DOM

What size filler and tungsten do you folks use for .120 wall ERW and DOM tube? This would be for a MC or auto frame. The welds in the neck gusset area of a MC always appear so small and tight. Same combo as the tube-to-tube welds?
I use a 200 DX about 10 hours a week on .125 Alum. but don’t have much time with steel. I have always had great results with Alum, but my steel beads are rather flat. The alum puddle appears to "Freeze" a lot quicker when the rod is added, plus it is mush easier to see...

    Thanks

Go with the 3/32 tungsten sharpened and a 1/16 filler. This will give you the small bead profile you are looking for.

    Good luck!
