My new MM 210 Died

Got my new MM 210 yesterday. Ran a few beads and it seemed to be a little eratic. Welds got worse. After about half an hour of running some practice welds it started popping back. Today the same thing except that after I ran a bead it would not strike an arc on the next attempt. Acted as if there was a bad or no ground. Took it back to dealer who is a Miller repair facility and they verified it was not a customer related problem. They got Miller service on the phone and immediately began trying to diagnose the problem. As the dealers' factory certified repairman was on a call the Miller Service Personal walked us through some tests after pulling off the machines covers. We got it to strike an arc once but then it quit again. As far as we can tell it is a defective contacter. Even though it is a big letdown after hearing so much good about the 210, I am impressed with dealer and Miller's immediate concern.

please dont let one bad apple ruine the bushel. Thats why they have warrantees.

Its not a bad apple, it just has a little bruise. My dealer and Miller are jumping through hoops to get it fixed. I'd buy another one.

Holy Crap! I'm goin' out and hug mine! Blow out the drive cabinet! Polish the cover! Wipe down the MIG gun cable! And it's got 30 MINUTES on it!!

The part in question was made by Siemens, not Miller.

I would be more impressed if you would have left with a brand new machine, for craps sake, it only had a 1/2 hour on it.

Got my 210 back today. Problem was a loose wire coming from the transformer. Was not secured tight when it was assembled at the factory. W ire was arcing to the connection.Dealer put on a new connection and bolted it down and it works great. Now I know why I was getting erractic performance.
