What Would Be The Best Wire To Use, Welding 1/8 Plate To Unibody Vehicle Floor. Plate Is For Roll Cage Installation. I Am New To This Game.

I use ER70S-6 and CO2 for everything I do.

I'd use the 75/25 mix. The Co2 will have higher penetration...a bit too high for the thinner wall uni-body.

The guys are all over it but my.02 is use .030 wire diameter and 75/25 gas.

and remember clean all the paint and rust before welding. You will be amazed at what a little paint can do to your vocabulary.

Remember to clean away from the weld area also. The heat will pull grease, oil and other impurities right into the weld zone

We use C25 and .023 or .030 on all autobody welding at the local college
autobody class,and as previously suggested cleanliness is the by word especially for all external body panels, cleaning w/wax & grease remover before you grind your work piece to keep from imbeding impurities such as silicones, otherwise it will come back to haunt ya.
