Finger Control N/S

I purchased the finger control kit with my dynasty and I am just learning to TIG and I can't stand the finger control, or maybe I can't or haven't gotten comfortable with it. Do you have any tips?? like how to position the switch or hold the torch, maybe I am doing something wrong. As right now I am seriously considering trading my finger control for a foot control. BTW I have the North/South control, is the East/West any better? My main problem is getting the amps up real fast while keeping the torch still and not letting the arc wander. The only thing I have had a little luck with is using the finger controller in my other hand, then I don't have a hand to add filler metal. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

filler rod holder

you could get a filler rod holder and atach the finger controle to thet so you could still have the filler rod and the finger controle in the same hand.

If you don't plan on tig welding anywhere but home trading it in might be an option, but down the road if you decide to do a job for someone using there equipment and they have a finger controller then what?. For the last 8 years I have used an East/West controller and once I got familiar with it, it was a piece of cake, you just forget about it as it becomes second nature. I had my controller set as far back on the handle as I could get it and used my thumb to control it, We had a guy that used his forefinger instead so just try to position it where you are comfortable. I would think the north/south might be easier to use than the east/west but have never used one. The job i'm at now has a foot controller and using it for the first time was no problem, so I figure get good at using a hand controller as anyone can use the foot controller but not vice versa. I would try a button only. If the dynasty 200 has the controls like a Thermal -arc 185 (repeat is what Thermal calls theirs) with a well designed hot start tig/ upslope/ current / repeat/ downslope it pretty cool. I have buttons on all my machines and foot controls . That is a pretty good setup. I can't stand the North/south ck setup. I would think east/west would be easier.I have not used that style yet.

The Dynasty has the controls you are referencing. Miller calls it sequencing. In a past post I actually recomended a push button only finger tip control as an option to utilize with the sequencing programs. It is really pretty cool and does not take much to get the hang of it. I use the sequencing some and operate it by tapping my foot pedal (using it as an on/off switch).
