dorn,
I played around with a couple machines during the prototype staging and found them to be truly awesome! It (the Passport) will tack and run a bead on 25 ga sheet without burn through. The inductance control is very nice for wetting out or drying up the puddle depending on the wire type ( SS or steel). I saw a couple of race teams running tacks all day without failing to perform. All in all a premium product!!!

My friend went to a Miller training school and ran one on co2 gas. It's arc was great. They used the high inductance tap for a really smooth arc. Very impressive with co2. I guess with mixed gas it's even better. It makes sense that it would be. I trust my friends Judgement, because he has ran tons of stuff and can tell you exactly if it's not quite right. It's right!!! It runs co2 close to like my esab does, which is great also. It was the closest comparasion he could come up with. I say buy it, you will like it. The esab is about $4000.00 with the feeder. So the passports high price does not looks as high, for all that you will get in arc quality.
PS- The Miller rep at the place, said the Passport is a Maxstar 150 with a cv loop installed. Andy is that right? If it is, when is the tig /stick / mig model coming out?Attached Files

When we talked about the DVI I mentioned the 120 input woudnt be a factor in purchasing to me, machine is too big to move and I would have a 230V supply even if I was a race team. But this thing does have some appeal due to the size and weight and could make the dual voltage very practical. Any time you can carry the machine it gets way more attractive.
