Welding Depot has 5/64 rods. i got some from them. they also have 1/16 rods, bigger than 5/64, but smaller tham 3/32.

      Blown S-10,

      I think that's backwards: 1/16 = 4/64, 5/64, 3/32 = 6/64. It looks like 1/16, 5/64, 3/32. There is 1/64 difference per rod in this progression. Am I thinking correctly?

            James,

Thanks for the second look. I've found the 5/64" 7018 rods run hotter and dig a lot less than the 1/16" 6013 rods. The 1/16" 6013 rods would make a pretty downhill weld if you add a slight weave. However, THEY WOULD NOT PENETRATE WELL and I would not want to be on that chopper.

How's the saving for the Dynasty 200DX coming along?

            Blown S-10,

I have run a lot of rods through the years and never really thought about the mathematical concept of size comparison. It can be miseleading due to the flux diameter of different rod types. For example an 1/8" 6010 is very close in outside diameter, including flux, to a 3/32" 7018. Before somebody takes a tangent here I said close for sake of eyeballing rod sizes. Of course if you weld with both everyday, it's a no brainer on what is what...

                      James,

There is nothing better than taking your children on vactaion when they are old enough to really begin enjoying the trip! If you have questions, just let me know. I'll be glad to help. I am not sure the forum email works, but [email protected] does work.

eh, I dunno about six flags. When I went there, it was all roller coasters, and very, very little else. Only overpriced shops and carnival style games that ate away my money. I'd say save for disney world. think of six flags as the 180SD, and Disney as the 200DX.
