    i was wondering what the real difference was between mig and tig welding just found out i have a tig welder

    Well, tig doesn't use wire, it has a nonconsumable electrode, uses different shielding gas, more precise...

        also. tig is: slower than mig. easier to control(for me). many say harder to learn. uses more gas.

          tig is more for precise work and specitally metals where weld quality is more important then turn around time

          tig DOES use filler rod (wire) but it is added manually by the weldor.....

          mig is more for a production type basis..........

          mig can be learned in a 1/4 of the time of tig..........

          tig welding (i feel) is more of a ART form...........but thats just me !!

              You "just found out" you have a tig machine? What did you do, wake up and trip over it, inherit it? Jeez, I wish I could "just" find out I've got a tig machine. Maybe a Dynasty 300DX, with a Coolmate 4, remote foot control, and a CK torch with a superflex hose? Santa, are you listening?
