  • just got it

my 200dx came yesterday , along with the HD peddle. weldcraft torch should be here monday, i hate buying stuff from cali, it takes longer to get it.

its a good looking machine. need to get cables for it & wire up the plug. i may be able to smaw later today. it came with 3 dinse connecters. i got a weld-it 300a ground clamp, i don't like it much. its way to stiff and uncomfortable in the hand.

just figured i would show some pics from an angle that i have not seen on the web. for the guys looking to buy one.

I'm just wondering how much $$$ you got from Old Style for that product placement.

Oh yeah, congrats on the new machine.

hehe, yeah, i had 1 too many last night, just now getting to feel better.
and i put it in there to help give a perspective to the size of the machine.

i didn't get any cable today. i checked welding depot's prices, and i can get the stuff for 1/2 what i can get it for localy. so i'm going to order and it should be here tuesday.

Thanks for the pics!!!! Looks like I got the same helmet as you,the XLIX. I'd drink the same kind of beer, but no can get in south Fla. The foot pedal is that Miller's??? I ordered my CK tig torch last week, should be in shortly. Ordered my ground clamp. In a couple of weeks then I'll order the foot pedal. Still no DX yet. Too many hurricanes to pay for damage. All my money goes to the Home Depot. Thanks again for the pics, keep us posted on your progress.....

it looks more complicated than it is, i think . the instruction manual is righten for someone who knows what they are doing, and thats not me, not yet anyway. so its complicated, but with the help of the "knowers" here, i will get it understood as i go.

i'll have more pics as parts come together. i didn't get CK because their site doesn't show prices, this tells me "overpriced" and "lets milk him for all we can get" . i'll pass on that.

thats a Big Window, not the xlix. yes, thats the HD peddle. some have complained that its made of plastic. time will tell, but it seems like a high quality unit to me.

yeah, you florida people got POUNDED . i WAS thinking about moving the tampa, i HATE the cold winters here. but i found that the pay scale is lower than it is here . then i took the hurricans as an omen, i'll just have to deal with the cold

i got the 200dx and HD from cyberweld. machine was $2211 shipped, and peddle $190 shipped. noticably lower. after i straightened out the phone problem with them = they seem like real nice folks, and fast shipping.

                    Wheat

where did you order the KC torch from and did you get the super flex line?

i was playing with a dimond on a max150 at the dealer and the hose realy seemed like it could be a problem for a starter lerning to controle the torch so i will defenetly be looking for the supper flex (too bad it's red wonder if you could get it in blue)
i couldnt find any place to price out the KC eather how about a link
what did ypu pay for youres ?
                    thanks for the help

i got the torch today. the torch itself looks pretty standard quality stuff. but the hose looks great ! love the red. just adds some color. it also has a orange protective plastic spiral cover on the first 12'. i want something like this for the whole hose.

should be getting the smaw and ground stuff in the next day/2. i will post pics when i get it. will be able to use the machine at that time.

                      happy me

well, i tried it out last night.

SMAW. worked well. but it triped my lowly breaker a couple of times @ just 70 amps. i figured i would be able to use at least 100 amps. but maybe there is something i haven't found that it causing it to be low powered when it shouldn't be.

TIG steel. worked well at about 75 amps on .100ish i was trying it on.

TIG aluminum. melted it better than i thought it would after the smaw shortcomings. .125 6061 seemed to be not a problem.

my tungsten wasn't sharpened optimaly, basic settings from the manual, and i was just playing with it. not intending to seriously ring it out.

still LOTS to learn. but i'm off and running, well, maybe walking , so things are moving along.

this machine is expensive. but i think i made a wise choice for my needs.
and if it never breaks down on me, it will turn out to be a quality investment in the long run.

btw, all this was on a 120v low amp circuit. on a 220v circuit i'm sure it will work superbly.
