  • CP300 Pulser box...how do you use it?

    Hi,

James (fun4now) advised me to start a new thread, and so I am! hahaha...anyways, I have a maxstar 152 with snap start II hf build with it. The package came with this CP300 pulser box that I have NO clue on how to use it. People said that its mostly used on AC but my machine is only DC...does that mean that I cant use this? There are 4 knobs and 4 switches, and I already read the manual but still no clue on how to use it...I tried it once and all it did was made a sound while tigging like a "tic tic tic tic" but it wasent even creating a puddle...

Any help would be appriciated on how to use this machine...of even tell me if its useful or not, and how it will help me..haha

Thanks again for all the help, much appriciated..

    best regards,

Hey Cleaver, the PC-300 pulser is a very useful tool that can be used for DC or AC welding. However its most common usage is on DC for thinner material. You plug it into your remote connection on your maxstar, and plug your foot pedal into it. Also, you need to plug it into 120v. Try these settings with 1/8" steel

    Maxstar
    Main Amps 150

    PC300
    % on time 40
    1 hz
    % background current 40

If the unit seem to pulse alot faster than 1 hz, then we need to reset the internal hi/lo freq switch

    good luck

      cleaver,
On an earlier thread someone also mentioned it is a good training aid as to when to add filler material, I personally know it made my welds better looking, and someone also mentioned they always use a little pulse 15hz, 90% on 50% off? to stir up any contaminents and raise them to the surface. Bottom line, I love mine and would not want to be without it. Hope this helps, Paul,
ps, as you are using on an Inverter machine, you can use the higher settings, I believe they go up to 300 pulses per second, I am not sure, because I use mine on a Synchrowave 250 and it can only go up to 20hz.

when you use the pulser you need to increase the amp's to make up for the off time.
                thanks for the help
