  • FS: Miller Big Window Elite

As most of you know, welding school didn't work out for me. So I am selling my Miller Big Window Elite (Stars and Stripes). I will be using the helmet on Monday with Andy at Miller, otherwise this helmet has zero use. I am selling it for $200 + Shipping, and I am including a pair of welding gloves, with the same use as the helmet.

Contact me via email at: [email protected]

Welding doesn't have to be a source of stress, it can be a great source of stress relief. You are not competing with HAWK on your first bead. You are only competing with yourself, to learn, and better yourself. You can only get better with some practice, and you will feel much better about yourself for it.

School is a wonderful thing, But, not required for you to learn to enjoy welding. Perhaps if Andy shows you some basics, with a little practice, school will not be as stressfull. By knowing a few basics before you go to school, you may develop the confidence to learn what school can teach you.

A car, a building, a computer, As a whole, can be complicated. But they are all built one step, one piece, at a time. One cannot learn ALL of anything at one time. But one small step at a time and great things are possible.

You may never reach the skill level of Andy, But it is not required that you do so for you to enjoy welding and creating. You cannot fail as long as you are trying to learn........You have nothing to lose........except some self-doubt and fears...........and.........nobody minds losing those..........Don't give up.......don't sell the helmet..........

This is not an opportunity to lose.........this is an opportunity to win. You can do it........Andy will show you that you can........Don't give up now.

    Good Luck

i agree. wait till you work with Andy. if you give up on this, what will be the next thing you give up on, then the next thing, then life itself. if you DON'T at least give it a good try, your not doing yourself any good. if you give it a good try, and its not for you, well, thats ok. welding isn't for everyone. but you have to at LEAST give it a try.
recently i was very depressed. i got over it by making my welding cart. it REALLY took my mind off my problems.

WISH i lived close to someone like Andy

good luck man. DON'T sell yourself short !!!

I am selling the helmet so I can buy equipment to start a photography business, I'm not giving up on welding, only delaying it.

I have given up on life several times. Photography is my way out, not welding, and I have realized that. If you want to buy the helmet fine, if not please dont waste your time posting in this tread. If someone on here doesn want it, its going on ebay.

            ISO50,

I respect your decision and wish you much luck in photography. If you decide to try welding again just drop us a line and we'll try to help you.

To all other members. ISO and I have discussed this several times. We need to be fair to him. Let's give him the opportunity to pursue life as he sees fit. The $200 tag for the helmet and gloves sounds more than fair. I wish I needed another hood. If anybody is looking this really is a superb helmet

              Hawk,

Don't worry I'm not giving up on welding. I need to have a job in order to make money, which I hope photography will do for me. I plan on photographing area high school sports and selling the images to parents etc. Even if I kept the hood it would be useless without a welder, and I don't have one, anc cant afford to get one.

I have been looking around for one of these, as I'm worried my cheapie is not really protecting my eyes very well, and in general operates very poorly (slow to go dark, (ouch), and once it does, it's too dark to see what the heck I'm welding.

My budget is pretty tight right now, but if you really want to sell this helmet, this is one weekender that really needs a tried and true safe helmet.
So I would be interested in taking it off your hands.

                Do you take pay-pal?

Let me see what kind of funds I can scrape together,
If it is ok with you, I can send you some cash right away to hold it as well.
Payday is the end of the month.

                Thanks,

                Don

i'm not trying to give you a hard time, just encuragement. sorry if it came out wrong.

i very much like photography myself. and i'm not bad at it either. i had at one time thought of making it my full time work, doing weddings, etc. but i didn't think it would work out for me.

i have a cannon eos 35mm. its very nice for the money. i don't ever use it because of my digital camera.

I used to work at a newspaper, and I miss that kind of work. Weddings, not my thing I did a few, but I like to shoot action thats not scripted. I had several Canon's, then the newspaper bought a Nikon D1h and so I went digital. Now I can't see going back to film. So I just bought a used Canon EOS D2000

Sorry to here things didn't work out for you, just remember you can learn to weld without an expensive big window so don't let selling yours keep you from trying again someday. You can learn to weld, we all did.

I remember having problems learning to weld with 6010, I would stick it and stick it and couldn't get a stringer going to save my butt, my welding instructor became so frustrated with me he stopped me from welding, took off his helmet and asked me if I drank, I said no, he said I should start, it would probably help me. Now 6010 is a go to first rod for me when I need penetration, filling holes and when working on dirty metal that can't be cleaned properly.

Good luck with your photography, hope to see you around.

Welding isn't right for me at this time, that doesn't mean I wont go back later on. First rule is, do what you need to to earn a living, then you can get extras. In my case photography is my way to a living, and welding is an extra.
