... for the gas hose on the back of my machine, see pic. i made a cart. because of space limitations i wanted it as compact as possible. that meant having the bottle as close to the back of the machine as possible. in mock up, everything fit somewhat well. but in my haist, i didn't consider what i was doing when i welded a chain link to the vertical support, for the chain for the bottle. this moved the bottle over enough to cause the problem in the pic. can i get a 90deg fitting to help clear the bottle ?

this is my cart i made. it cost me basicly nothing. free bed rails from MIL's house. wheels from a junky hand truck i got out of someones garbage (need to get better rear wheels). and a can of $1 black paint i keep in stock for just this reason.

i learned a lot about this kind of fabrication. need to learn more. but i did ok on it.

of course, as long as you make sure it's the right size and I would blown it out with compressed air before installation. You might even be able to have your weld supply store make a different hose with a 90 bend.

Don't use a 90 degree, use a 45 degree at the most. Or use a 90 with a way oversized inner diameter, then an adapter to get back down to the fitting size. Even then I'd turn the gas flow up to compensate, the 90 will be a flow restriction to a point.

I got a super deal on the weldpak 3200 so it comes with a Cart, but the welder is down on the floor, and it has provisions for a small 20 cf tank, so I was thinking of making something compact as well, but to accomodate larger tanks, and maybe even two tanks. Of course mine has tapped voltage settings its the Sp135T. How do you like the plus?

i'm thinking maybe i will just tilt the tank back a little, don't know yet.

you can copy it, no problem. i will take closer up pics of it for you .
its pretty easy to build. bed rails are a great value = FREE just gotta keep an eye out for them, & ask around a lot.

i was thinking of making it a 2 tank cart. but size was a factor, and swapping tanks isn't a big deal. this cart, with a few more "s wider will fit 2 tanks.

i had a 3200, nice machine. but i found out about the 135+ the day after buying. and desided the infinite adjustments were better. so i took the 3200 back to home depot. and ordered the 135+ from IOC. but if i had got a T for a deal, that would have been even better. then i found these forums.

Nice cart! How's the balance? I would tend to agree on the 45-degree fitting. It looks like something specific to welding though. What does the end that attaches to the hose look like? Is it a 45 or 37 degree flare, or is it an o-ring face seal?

You can get the fitting at your welding supply store. There will be no problem using a 90° fitting at the low flow-rates for shielding gasses. Nice job on the cart!

You betcha! I had the best luck at AIRGAS - biggest selection of fittings around here. Nothing will teach you better than a half-day serach through the local welding emporiums! Unfortunately, I had some money in my pocket when I started...

PS: Now, all my flowmeters/regulators have their OWN hoses and fittings. No more swapping!

not a problem, its really not that tall. but i really do need better rear wheels.

i had it on my bench before this cart, didn't have a problem with that, other than it taking up valueable bench space. but i use it last night. and i got to say, its really nice to move it around as needed. suprised me just how usefull (for me) it really is.

it looks like it is just has that climp on the end. now that i think about it, a 90 fitting may not even work. as it may stick out just as far, don't know.

Nice setup. price is right also. Like the radio station sticker also. Being a former Northsider. Had a Loop t-shirt years ago and was in a store down here and a guy bought the shirt off my back...Funk and all....Go figure??? Have fun...

i did some work on it today. i don't need a fitting now. i moved the tank back 1/4" and it fits just fine. just need to find a way to fasten the machine down now. i'm sure i will modify it one way or another, sometime. but for now its basicly done.

I might modify my cart to lower the wheels down, raising the base, and heighten a cage off the back for the cylinders.

I'm married, so in a couple years, the garage will be my new home, hahaha.

BTW, I don't know if you have an old fridge in your garage, but I was looking at disguising a beer cooler to look like a toolbox.
