  • Mill Plasma Cutters

What is the discussions group's opinion on the line of Miller Spectrum plasma cutters...in particular the Spectrum 375?

I would be interested in hearing any comments as to reliability, repair costs and functionality.

Also, is this plasma cutter the same as the Hobart Airforce 400?

    Thanks

    miller plasma cutters

i can only say what i have herd about the spec375 and that would be all good with 1 exception it is suposed to have an undersized power in cord (easy fix ) but many run it with the factory cord without any problems so i guess it's a questunable thing.

i have the miller spectrun 125C and am verry pleased with it and suprized by its cut capacity. it has saved me countless HR's in the shop. i have had no problems with it at all it has preformed flawlesly with cuts up to 1/4" thick steel. the only modification i have made is to add a foot peddle to it for doing some artsy fartsy stuff where i needed to have beter controle of the torch 0n some real fine cuts

in short i give mine an A+++
    thanks for the help

      Spec 375

I have a spectrum 375 and has performed flawlessly. I run mine on 220V and have had no problems with it. I have herd about the cord problem but I dont know if it applies when running 220V, however I'm willing to give it a try. I have the wheel stand off kit and it makes cutting 20 through 10 ga sheet metal almost as good as cutting it with a shear, provided you have a straight edge. I have also cut 3/4 plate with it, ya have to go very slow and it dose'nt do a great job but for a machine that was rated for 3/8 it works great.

I also bought the circle cutting guide, it was very expensive but it works sweet .

I like the fact that it will run on 110 or 220V and is portable.

If your not cutting super thick (.625 or bigger) all the time this is a fabulous machine.
