Wow, after further review of this forum i realize just how much of dumbass i was. The search had all my answers in it, just needed the time to find it and put it all together. And i spent the xtra bucks and got the Dynasty 200dx. Cant wait until it gets here. Im like a kid anticipatiing Christmas morning. Oh, and i got my accessories from arczone. I called them up and the guy was very friendly and seemed to know his stuff. Ill post more when it all shows up.

    contractor kit

it has been posted many times that the contractor's kit is not the way to go. it is put out as a curticy for starters or those that dont want to spend the time looking for what is needed.
with the contractor's kit you get duplicets of some parts and some things can be made up cheeper than bought (ground clamp is easily made from a pice of wire and a clamp no point in buying that when you can save a lil $$ puting it togather )
you will save some $$ and end up with a better setup if you are willing to pice it togather yourself.
if you have the time and intrest, if not the kit is put together with good parts and you can make any changes down the line as needed. if you need it ready to weld right out fo the box then get the kit

Lurking on other forums the T/A 185 is a fine machine. The only grey area that I hear them talk about is service. Bang for the buck the Thermal Arc rocks no question. If I had authorization from the little woman, go for the Dynasty. Yes the T/A 185 is imported. Multiple power sources, Miller service easily outclasses the competition.

    My recomendations:
1] Change your screen name, Its not necessary to be vulgar!
    2] Dynasty rocks
3] Buy the components you need, go with an air cooled torch
    4] try www.brwelder.com and www.cyberweld.com

    Weld well, weld safe,

    started a topic Contractors Kit

    Contractors Kit

Here is the deal, Im all about buying american but the thermal arc 185tsw is way cheaper. Im waiting on a response in another forum on how longterm users like it but...

The lady, who also agrees with my philosophy, thinks it may be OK to upgrade to the dynasty 200dx. I however ame not convinced about the extra grand for it with the contractors kit. IOC has one for $2710 or 2244 without the kit. I know IOC aint gonna budge with the price but if i could get all i need to weld in the contractors kit for cheaper, i could save some bucks. So, from the experienced guys, i need to get a foot pedal, $200, and what else? This methodalogy(is that a word?) was sparked from another thread where someone said that if they had to do it all over again they would buy everything seperate. I havent TIGed so i dont know what meter is good or what cups i may need or even what is a comparable torch or how much this stuff costs. Id like to keep it under $2600 plus cylinder so that leaves me $160 to get all the other hardware. Possible?

And even more than this, with good concience, thermal arc is based in OH? but the welders are imported, correct? What would you do?
    thanks
Working...
