Just starting out. Have Miller Dynasty 200 DX. Welding aluminum. How do I set the settings on the Dynasty 200 DX to create the ball on the tip of the electrode?

Why?
I think you should of bought a Syncro 180 if you want to weld with a balled electrode. Try a pointed one. If you still feel you want a ball, use a Zirconiated tungsten ground to a point and it will from on its own. If you want to speed that up, just set it up on electrode + and stike a arc on some copper to form a ball.
Hi Scott V,
It's a little late to mentioning purchasing another machine. The deed is done. What I was asking for was what SETTINGS do I change on the Dynasty 200 DX to get the ball on the tip of the electrode.
thanks,
Happy
Hawk had a post on what tungsten to use with a Dynasty. You aren't supposed to ball the tungsten when welding Al with the Dynasty. Grind it to a point and then flatten it slightly. Works like a charm. By the way, you made the right choice. I learned to Tig on old transformer machines. The new inverter machines are much easier to use.
Hope this helps,

I forgot the most important tip for welding Al. Make sure your Al is really clean. Both the work and the filler. If you don't you will get an ugly mess.
Earlier this week I posted a question about which tungsten works well
with the Dynasty 200DX. Hawk replied, that 1.5% Lanthanated works
well for both Alum and steel. I did get some and would agree, I have
been preparing the tungsten with a 20-30degree point then putting a
small flat spot on the end, about .020 on the flat spot.
