  • Items needed to run tools off Trailblazer

Now that I know I will be getting a new trailblazer 302 gas model (probably with the Kohler motor), I need to know what if any other cables, controllers, etc will be needed to operate some of my other equipment that I will be running off it. I already have several 50 foot 6/3 power cords.

    1) Miller 210 W/spoolgun

    2) Hypertherm Powermax 1000 Plasma Cutter

    3) Uni-Hydro 42-14 Ironworker single phase 220 (not too often, 1400 pounds
is a lot to tote around).

Also, since I will be ordering one, would anyone suggest getting the GFI outlet option?.................thanks,

    Pat.

    gfi

i would get it but i'm not shoure if it would cause you problems if you intend to weld regardless of weather. i would not be welding in bad weather but your job may need to be done in thouse conditions and you may chouse to do so. in a wet envierment it may cause you truble when it trys to save your life wether you like it or not
damp extention cord conection can cause a GFI to trip. they can cause problems if you need to work right after rain.
however i am refering to GFI plugs on temp. power boxes, and generators i have never tryed 1 on a welding rig but would expect the same results. they are a good safty device in the home but out in the field when you have a deadline they can be anoying.

well that probubly gust confused you more sorry

you need to comsider your job ergency. if you are the type that say it's wet i wont be welding then go for it.
if the job must get done regardless of conditions i would pass on the GFI
    thanks for the help
    ......or..........
    hope i helped

        fun4now,

Thanks for the info. The reason I asked about the GFI outlets is because I kind of remember something I saw about needing them under certain situations or conditions.

        farmboy weldor,

The Uni-hydro is one of them tools you can do without until you use one. It sure does save a lot of time when fabricating items. Like other tools, it does have it's limitations. If you need to punch, shear, bend metal etc, it sure does cut the time of these processes down drastically however, if you need very precise holes or cuts, using a drill press or bandsaw may be a better alternative. I am still learning how to use it, and I am sure there are others that have one that can get more accuracy out of them. The tooling for these things is quite pricey and adds up in a hurry. By the looks of the tooling I have purchased, if a person had some machine shop skills, I think they could make most of the tooling for pennies on the dollar, and end up with the same or better quality tooling. I would not give mine up for anything.

if you are using it for work osa may require it on goverment contrats
HAWK or someone else in the biz could probubly help with that 1. as i just weld for fun i have no ideal what osa wants sorry
i just have used GFI outlets outside for building custom homes, bolth on the pole and in my generator and they can be finicky in damp conditions.
good luck with your new purchas
          thanks for the help
