I checked out the SCCA web site. That is exactly what I was looking for. I had no idea that there were so many diferent types of contests available for amatuers. They even utilize two of my hometown tracks. Darn it, now I won't be able to sleep tonight, it's just too exciting. Thanks for the help.

SCCA is a great grassroots org. You might want to also try vintage racing. It is a little more low key. Try VSCRA or something like that. I think it stands for vintage sports car racing assoc.

The SCCA is full of helpful guy and gals thatlove racing and they will help you get where you want to be, and best of all they have been where you are and are typically where you want to be so it is great. I was wondering if anyone here has any experience with racing small sports cars. I have wanted to do this since I was 16 an had a little convertable and I recently aquired a 11970 MG B, and it looks like it will be roadworthy sometime in the spring. It needs new rockers, rear quarters, and floors. All the panels are readily available so that should not be a problem. I remeber reading about some small leagues that race antique sports cars, except I can't remeber where I saw it. I am looking at this stricly for fun! My youngest daughter is really excited about this car too, and it may give us something to do together (although I have my doubts about having gasoline available when she gets her license in 8 years ). I don't mind doing the work on the car, and have all the equipment to fab roll cages, etc. I just don't know the ins and outs of small car racing.

My cousin built a MG Midget and Austin Healy Sprite for his stepsons to race back in the late 1970s. Its a sport you can get into relatively cheap and have a lot of fun.
