    Hawk, or anyone else that can help;

    I remember you saying that you use Zirconia tungsten for some applications and i was curious as to what you use it for, i'd like to try this tungsten out and just needed a little help.

    Thanks,

    BC, Zirconiated Tungsten is used in AC tig welding, so mainly in Aluminum welding. It preforms better than Pure, with a higher current carrying capacity. If you try this on your next aluminum tig welds, I think you will like it, especially on any non-inverter type Tig machine.

      BC,

      Zirconiated tungsten is used for sinewave and standard squarewave machines where the end is balled for AC welding. It is great for x-ray quality welds as it is NOT prone to tungsten spitting or ball dropping into the weld like pure and thoriated tungstens are.

          BC,

          You are welcome. Good luck with the scrap heap. Sometimes that can be more fun than building a project. I'll help if I can. I used to be heavy into mobile STICK, MIG, and TIG. However, back and neck problems eventually forced me to do what I love the most. I mostly stay in the shop and have specialized in GTAW.

          For me the tungsten arc against an aluminum fillet is a joy to see and a very relaxing way to spend the day. You have to like what you do or pretty soon everything comes tumbling down...

            You said it Hawk. I love all types of welding but nothing is more relaxing than a nice TIG weld. I agree you have to love what you do which why I made my hobby my career.

              I have to agree with you guys, the little lady doesn't understand why i weld, or what i'm doing, all she knows is that when we get into an arguement and i'm right and she's wrong, but she's (Right) and i'm (wrong) we all know how that goes, that when i'm done Tig welding for a few hours i'm more relaxed, i don't know what it is, but it's almost like your in a different zone. Call me weird but hey that's fine with me.
