big window elite on /off ??

this might be a stupid ? but can you tell your auto off (after 15 min)has turned you off befor you try it and get flashed my brain tends to loose track of time (along with many other things ) so is ther a way to tell if it is still on?

If I've had my hood off for a while, fittin' stuff up or whatever, I just make it a habit to punch the "ON" button again before I put my hood back on. The window darkens twice and I know I'm good to go.

if its on and i hit the butten agin will it go off or dose it only go off on its own?

I keep a spark lighter handy, one quick spark & you know if it changes or not. Pretty simple & easy

I think it only turns off automatically. I suppose you could turn your hood toward some bright object (maybe the sun) and see if it darkens. Every time I hit the button, my big window blinks twice, which is what the literature says should happen when you turn it on. I can only say that I've NEVER been flashed since I bought mine.

You cannot turn the Big Window Elite off. When turned on it stays on until the 15 minute or so lack of activity and it turns off automatically. I just push the button every so often like Alex mentioned.

Hey James,
Let us know what ya think. I love mine. I put a friends on one day and was surprised... He wears glasses and he has a magnifier in it and I could actually see pretty good through it. It was a little strong but not bad. I went to the local welding shop and tried some different lenses found that the 225 worked great for me. It just slides in.I don't know how many people use these lenses but for only 6 bucks it made a big difference for me.

i kept reading about it being set up to take a mag. lense but never knew what 1 was for ?? sounds like it's just a (+) to have 1 in ill look into that. i figured they would just ne for real small tec. stuf who knew well live and lern.

The mag. lenses are for folks like us who have become visually challenged with close-up work. I have one in my old hood but haven't gotten one for my NexGen yet.

well poop. i was at 2 welding stores the other day, and i didn't look into these.
aaaaa, they would have wanted $25 for 1 anyway .

i wear glasses, and i don't think i have a problem. but i'm going to check them magnifiers out anyway.
