  • just me and a TIG

Never welded. but now its me and a Miller TIG welder, and I am going to figure it out. I know about the grounding, and proper attire, all of that is handy to me. I want to start out trying to weld some random steel shapes. I'm broke, and can't afford books or tapes or videos. I am turning it on. How do I begin?

I dont have to make sense.

start by viewing some of the other posts on this board. some of them are real helpful. Also on the home page hear at millerwelds you will see a title that says TIG HANDBOOK.It does use up a lot of ink but the info is neccasary to a novice. Dont be concerned if you dont understand the terms used, just take your time and im sure you love the wonderful world of gtaw. Also what model miller do you have?

Its a 250 synchrowave. It has been marked elecrode negative (steel). Ac (Aluminum) And electrode positive for Ball forming. 423 . When the unit is turned on, do you seperately have to turn on the gas? Or should everything be turned on at once by the switch?

I dont have to make sense.

you have to open the valve on top of the tank. unless someone didn't close it = not good.
