portable ac/dc tig?

Hello everybody! Im having some difficulty making a decision on what machine,s to purchase. First let me expain my goal, I currently have a bobcat 225(early 90s vintage). I want to start doing work on the shoreline to boats,(tops, bolster seats)lightweight tig work.I think the machine I want is the 200sd. It would seem as though the bobcat will run the dynasty. Also how differnt is the dynsty as far as welding characteristics. Ive been welding every day with a lincoln ideal arc300/300 ac/dc, Ilove this machine and wouldnt trade it for its weight in gold, There has been no job that Ive had to turn down(Ive even done copper plates 1" thick 36"x18" with medium preheat). Any input would be appreciated . Thanks

dynasty 200 sd ? DX

i woiuld think that doing the "lightweight" work you would want to spend an extra $200.00 and get the DX witch has the pulse built in. among other added features.

the bobcat should run the dynasty 200sd/dx without a problem.
also the LVC™ Line Voltage Compensation
Keeps output of the power source constant regardless of fluctuation in input power ± 10%. will help the dynasty run smother off the bobcat.

I understand that the pulse is only $200 more, but I see it as one more thing to go wrong. I do not have any problems making quality, consistent beads without pumping a pedal on aluminum or steel. Unless the pulse option is affecting more than just amperage output.

I just have to say that when you use the pulse you'll be amazed at what it can do, you might be able to make quality, consistent beads with out pumping the pedal, but what about heat input into the material? like s/s, pulse is great on stainless, each time i've used pulse on stainless i get very little to no bluing and no warping of the material. So pusling is something to think about, it's great on thinner materials because of less chance for burn through. If your located in Connecticut let me know where and i'll see if i can't set something where you can see what these machines can do.

Middletown is right near our Meridan store, which is located at 187 Gracey Ave, somewhat near the mall there. I just checked they don't currently have a new dynasty in stock, but if i'm not mistaken we might have one in our demo booth up there. My suggestion would be to swing on by and speak with a gentlemen by the name of Paul Tracey he's a very tall guy and you can't miss him. if you run into any problems let me know nad i'll see what i can do on this end, as i'm down in Danbury and your a little out of my area, but i like to help my fellow welders out there.
