    S-,
THANKS FOR ALL YOU HAVE DONE! HANG IN THERE!

To fun4now and others: I see you have your member status back. Also the search feature appears to be working properly. I have tested it on several topics new and old and it is working flawlessly. The email notification just now started working for me about 5 minutes ago. Has anybody noticed anything else going on-right or wrong? Problems are continuing to be addressed.

I think all of us believd that everything would be fixed as rapidly as possible. Certainly, everyone needs a vacation, and I can't fault our E-communications manager for taking hers. As far as Andy's status, I agree there, too. And, while I'm thinking about it, it wouldn't upset me to see HAWK become a moderator on this forum, either. (That way, even Andy can get a vacation...)

Thanks to all of you who make it happen.

I second that notion entirely. When I first joined I tought HAWK was a moderator!

            Tanner and Hankj,

Thanks for your votes of confidence! I am a member of this forum like everybody else. I am very fortunate to have experience in many areas of the welding and fabrication industry. I am thankful for this forum as a place to share some of those experiences for this reason: When I was getting started a wonderful resource like this was not available to me. I have also had the chance to work with numerous machines including a lrge number of miller welders. I try to look after this board when Andy is gone, but only in an unofficial capacity.

Hawk - Thanks for all the hard work , time and energy, not to mention the good info and knowledge you have passed on to members of this board. I too thought you were a moderator and a official member of the Miller staff. Again thanks and thanks to all the others that go out of their way to help the less knowlegable that seek help and information.

                Hawk,

I suspect that in the past it was hard to get much information from the old hands too.

                  cope,

You're correct on that one. Those who did well and had the skill were reluctant if not down right arrogant when it came to giving help. Helping the new kid on the block was not cool. It was seen as a threat to their job. You learned a lot by watching and trying to copy. Every once in a while some old timer would feel sorry for you and slide some morsels of info your way.

A good friend of mine broke into welding in the late 1960's and I thought that was his expeience. After a few years when they decided they were stuck with him the old timers treated him better.
