GaryM,
It is great for repetitive applications requiring the ability to apply precision control time after time. The more you play with it the more uses you will find. Probably not the answer you are seeking, but playing with it and becoming familiar with its abilities will lead to your own applications. It is the same with pulsing. Once you understand what pulsing the arc does, then you can tailor it to you own specific applications. There are no hard and fast rules. It boils down to what works best for you. Some guys really like sequencing and take advantage of its possibilities. Some don't care for it or have a need. It is always good to have it if and when you need it. You don't have to use it just because it is there.

I downloaded the manual a few days ago and have read most of it.
What I am not sure of is when to use it. What type of aplication would it be used for?
I will be playing with this one a lot when it gets here.

Gary,
It's all in the manual online and with the machine. It basically allows the operator to program the sequencing form start to stop" Start amperage, weld amperage, ramp time from start amperage to weld amperage, time of weld amperage, ramp down time to a final amperage, time to stay on the final amperage before shutting down. It is activated by a push of the foot control. Take a look at the standard 2t and 4t configurations in the online manual. You can actually set it to use only a push button hand control whick is really cool to push a button and let the machine to the preprogrammed sequencing.
With the 300X you will have 8 slots to store programs incuding amps and sequencing. You have 2 slots per program button: one for AC and one for DC. Start on program button 1 and set up for DC, start amps, start polarity, sequencing, etc. and push button 1, then go to the AC set up on button one. follow this procedure for programs 1-4 and all will be preset. I like to set a one program for 3/32" tungten and tailor specifcally for it on AC,DC ; one of 1/16? ,etc
Here is the link to the manaul and sequencing information:
