Anybody use either of the new Sync 350 or Dynasty 350?

No, I haven't. But I speculated quite some time ago that a nice refresh for the Dynasty 300 design would be to change from auto-link to auto-line, utilize the latest 100khz igbt switching rate (first seen in the maxstar 150s), bring the apparent input power down by 25amps due to a better power factor, and also improve the duty-cycle. Now that the xmt-350 is out, I would hope that the same improvements made to it would now be 'mapped' to the dynasty 300 series. Voila, Dynasty 350. I've been waiting on a refresh to the design. Now this may just be it.

There is no such thing yet...
Not even prototypes. The Dynasty 700 (may not even be that name) is the first on the drawing board. A 350 is aways off.
Now the new Sync 350 is cool and even smaller than the old one.

The newest D when it comes will likely push the 500-700 amp range geared toward automation. I do not believe there's anything to lose by getting into a 200 or 300 Dynasty. Maybe this year will see new machines in other processes...Comment

Hawk, the 700 will be 2 350 power units in parallel.
ASKANDY, I hope that they drop the 'Dynasty' name, it doesent fit with names like Syncrowave, Aerowave, they should call it a Dynawave, or something different.
lramberson, The new units will not replace the traditional Dynasty series, they will replace Aerowave and Syncro 500 whitch has been dead for a year or 2.
Keep in mind that these should be true Variable Polarity units which will cost much more than the traditional AC units like the current Dynasty, along with the VP should come some very hefty price tags. I am curious to see how they do against the other VP units that are currently on the marketComment

In any event, prototypes aren't even done yet and all this is just a paper dream right now. Way too early to even start speculating. The sure thing is that whatever does come will have VP and that sooner or later the Aerowave will be killed and replaced by it. The Aerowave (as you know GTA) is quite jammed and is difficult to manufacture. The real goal is to bring the Aerowave up to current inverter technology and make it easier to assemble.
Still,I wouldn't hold your breath until it comes out...We'll find you on your shop floor a few shades of blue

I believe in updating machines & manufacturing to better & easier assembly techniques. I just hate being unable to keep up with the Jones... That toolman attitude getting me in trouble again..
I have seen with my own eyes the updated prototypes of the competitors unit, both a 350 unit & 400 unit in their inverter line. I just like made in AMERICCCCAAAAAAAAAAAAAh better and blue is so much more a becomming color

I have been quite pleased with the current Dynasty 300DX. It will weld circles around the Syncrowave series including the 500 which I have mentioned a few times in the past. I am glad to see sombody remembers it.
I don't know if the Aerowave will be available after this year, but it is definitely option/action packed. I wish the current 300DX had ICC. It would really rock! As A- mentioned it successor is still on paper. Which VP(excluding plasma arc)machine performs best for you? Any experience with Fronius?Comment

No, i have little to no experience with Fronius. I have seen the equipment, they had some different stuff, even advertising some kind of quiet AC tig welder. They also had some kind of digital readout in the tig torch. As far as VP goes, OTC has a unit, Miller has the Aerowave but the Liburdi Pulsweld VP is the best that i have found. Its avaliable in 200 amp increments, 200,400,600 amp. Until recently, it was offered as just a powersource with an option to install a plasma circut, but now its avaliable as a full function 4 servo powersource called the GT-VP. So now you can coordinate wire feed, AVC ( arc voltage control), travel and osc. Tungsten life with this unit is incredible. Nothing gets deposited on the tungsten and it stays sharp indefinely. Anyway, i like Liburdi's product,
Other than the Maxstar 140, i have not welded with a Fronius, what do you think about them?Comment

Thanks for the info. I am looking into the purchase of a VP TIG. However, the Aerowave is not where I am wanting to put my money. It welds nice and is a good machine. On the downside it is an absolute bear to work on. Everything has to come apart to get to anything. Parts are becoming an issue and it is likely to be discontinued as soon as this year end. Also I am interested in seeing the VP Dynasty, if that is what it will be called, prototypes. To date there is nothing to see.
As for the Fronius I have heard good things about the "quiet" AC TIG. An acquaintance out west has a couple of their upper end units and is well pleased. He also likes the D200DX for every day work in the 5-150 amp range. I owned a Max140, but was disappointed. I recently discovered they were decent machines and I had a "lemon".Comment

I see no one answered your question
VP machines like the Aerowave can adjust current independantly on both the pos side and neg side. A good example of some of the benefits of this is in Chapter 2 of the tig book that you can now download!

The VP units are killer on Alum & Mag. The ability to fine tune the electrode positive side does wonders for tungsten life and arc control. Check out the chart on pg 14 of chapter 2. It will give you a better visual of arc performance.
