use a new ss wire brush and nothing you have used on steel. and as above clean clean and then clean agin. post us some pictures of what you get and we will help you fine tune it .

The biggest thing overlooked with Alum welding is cleaning the material to be welded. Acetone is best but brake clean will work. If it isn't clean the welds will turn out black and nasty.
If you run a pass and it burns through you are too hot. If it humps up too cold. You have to move faster with Alum too.

Welcome to the site.

Your settings will vary depending on material thickness and type of welder you are interfacing with but to set up you need:
1- place the spoolgun weld cable to positive output stud on your welder
2- get a bottle of straight argon gas
3- for most applications, 4043 filler gives better appearing welds
4- gas flow at around 30cfh
5- always push the gun in a forward degree (not a pull angle)
6- again depending on wire thickness and material thickness, your voltages will most likely be in the low to mid 20s unless you are welding some real thick stuff. (example 3/16 runs good around 22 volts 375-400 inches per minute of wire speed with .035 wire)
7- get a bunch of scrap and practice.

To be specific with the info you gave is impossible at this time.

I'm sure there are quite a few guys here that do this and would throw all kinds of info your way with a bit more input on what exactly you are welding.
