Would you consider my Miller Vintage and Miller Sychro 250 as good a package as the MM251 and Dynasty 200??

  • #2
    why ?

why would you care. people keep trying to compare the syncrowaves and dynasty's they are not the same thing for starters the amps go syn 180 / dyn 200 /dyn 300 /syn 250. you should be compairing your syn 250 with the dyn 300 if looking at amps alowne. if it gets the job done for you who cares what the guys down the street think.
    happy welding
    thanks for the help

I agree with Fun,,, the time to compare is before buying,,, now as they say at the track,,, you gotta run what you brung. There are some guys doing very specialized technical work where the machines make some difference, for the rest of us,, make some sparks.

I think I would rather have a MM-251 over a vintage if i had a choice but they are both very good machines. As far as a syncro 250 against a dynasty 200. The synchrowave 250 is about the most common machine there is for fabricators. You just can't kill one of them. They weigh 400 lbs though and are NOT very portable. But the Dynasty has some great features. They run on any voltage between 115 and 460 single or three phase. They are very portable only apx 45 lbs. Can get with Variable frequency and pulsing for only a couple hundred bucks more than strippo model. That would depend what I was gonna be welding I guess. As long as they are BLUE I would be HAPPY.

If I had a Vintage and a Syncrowave, I wouldn't be running out to buy a MM251 and a Dynasty. But, the MM251 and Dynasty do have some pretty distinct advantages.

              syn VS dyn

when you compair the syn 250 with the dyn 200 the syncro 250 is better if you have the space and power supply witch you must have to be using it now.
if i had the 2 you do i would be a happy weldin fool with no regrets.
unless you want a mobile welding rig you are set fine and dandy.

Yes! That is what I'd say!

I WILL ALSO SAY IF I HAD A SYNCROWAVE 250 AND A VINTAGE I'D BE A VERY HAPPY WELDER. THE SYNCRO 250 AND ZIRCONIATED TUNGSTEN ALLOY ON AC IS A KICKER COMBO FOR ALUMINUM! THE VINTAGE IS A GREAT MM MIG MACHINE ALSO.

                JOHN/JWELD,

WHAT EVER HAPPENED WITH MY BUDDY BUYING YOUR SYNCRO? I KNOW HE WAS LOOKING AT ANOTHER MACHINE THAT WAS A FEW YEARS OLDER. IF YOU STILL HAVE IT, HANG ONTO IT UNLESS THERE IS A REASON TO GET THE DYNASTY 200. I LIKE MINE FOR THE PORTABILITY, BUT MUST HAVE THE D300DX FOR THE OUTPUT IN THE SHOP.

THE BIGGEST ADVANTAGES OF THE D200DX OVER THE SYNCRO 250 ARE PORTABILITY, LOW POWER DRAW/WIDE RANGE OF INPUT POWER VIA AUTOLINE, WIDE RANGE OF FREQ ADJUSTMENT ON AC, AND PREMIUM PULSING/SEQUENCING FUNCTIONS.

THE SYNCROWAVE 250 HAS THE UPPER HAND ON AMPERAGE OUTPUT. IT IS A GOOD STRONG RELIABLE UNIT. I THINK I'D KEEP IT UNLESS I HAD A REAL NEED TO PICK UP A DYNASTY --- OR AS A FRIEND OF MINE ALWAYS SAYS "SINCE WHEN DID NEED HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH IT. I WANT IT!" YOU MUST REMEMBER THAT HE HAS THE WALLET TO BACK IT UP.

WHAT'S YOUR APPLICATION THAT THE DYNASTY OR MM251X WOULD BE ADVANTAGEOUS? NASTY TRANSMISSION CASES OF CAST ALUMINUM WOULD QUALIFY FOR THE ADDED ADVANTAGE OF THE FULL FEATURED PULSING OF THE DYNASTY, BUT THERE I'D HAVE TO VOTE FOR THE 300. THE 200 WOULD DO IT SINCE YOU WOULD PROBABLY BE PUSHING 180 AMPS MAX, BUT I'D HATE TO GIVE UP THE EXTRA OUTPUT OF THE SYNCROWAVE TO GET A D200DX. I WOULD DO IT FOR THE 300DX. DECISIONS AND MONEY. YOU CAN'T TAKE EITHER WITH YOU.

AS FOR THE VINTAGE - IT IS A GREAT MILLERMATIC! IF I WERE LOOKING DOWN THE ROAD FOR ANOTHER MIG, I'D BYPASS THE 251X AND LOOK AT THE MM350P OR AN ALT/XMT SERIES WITH THE XR EDGE GUN/12RC SUITCASE, AND AN OPTIMA PULSER. I THINK YOU ALREADY HAVE THE 12RC? YES THE MM251X WILL TAKE THE PUSH/PULL MODULE, BUT YOU ARE WELL INTO ONE OF THE ABOVE MENTIONED SET UPS BY THE TIME YOU GET THE MODULE AND GUN SET UP.

                  John,
I nearly bought the vintage when I got my mm210 and I am not disapointed with what I have. I am certain the vintage is as fine of equipment as there is, and I would love to have a syncrowave to learn on but for now it will have to wait.

I am envious of a well equipped shop, not that mine isn't, but yours has a tig in it and mine doesn't.

                  Peace,
