I like to see where people are from. If they give local info such as prices of supplies or services it's nice to compare. And it's also great when they are from outside the USA to here common questions and solutions. So if you didn't fill out your location, think about up grading your info. thanks Tim

I agree!! I also wonder sometimes about how people come to this site, be it a motorsports affiliation, welding for a hobby or with your kids and for a hobby. Or for a hobby with your kids and your racecar and because you have taken on a new personality with hood on...you get the idea. This is undoutedly the best source of serious weld talk and advice on the web with some very talented craftsmen sharing their knowlege with the masses but it would be kind of interesting to know where people come from. I have been traversing the quarter mile since 78 when I was 16 and now have more fun than ever racing junior dragsters with my kids at Gateway mosy Friday nights. I also have a S/G Corvette but it has been idle since jr cars came to life. The crazy welding thing came to be when I had a friend weld up some aluminum for $40. I thought that was crazy so now some welding classes and a lot of $ in Blue equipment I can do my own d*** $40 weld! So how about the rest of you all...we all might be closer than we think. I read this site 3 times a day and write 1 time in 2 weeks so don't hesitate to jump in even if you don't usually write. Jump in...Jeff from near St. Louis200DX 350P 625 Plasma & other stuff I forgot

Andy249,
Actually, we were gonna try to inch down under! (That was bad, but it's all the fog will let out from the grey matter at the moment)
Truth is, we aren't that far away. Pretty nearly all our consumables have both measuring system equivalents on the labels. The proliferation of motor vehicles and other manufactured goods from Eourope and Asia has led to wide availability of metric hardware, and my favorite brew comes in 500ml bottles!!
Be well.

Our money is on the metric system.
I spent 19 months in Europe in the ARMY and I shipped home tools that I bought in Europe. I have a couple sets of Metric Screwdrivers, some Metric Pliers, wire cutters and even Visegrips!! I just bought some C clamps that were made in China so I'm pretty sure they are Metric too.

He he!
The only time I have ever heard of crescent wrench is when a New Zealander says it and normally he is referring to an adjustable spanner or "shifter" as we call em
To be honest with you guys, I don't mind the imperial system, heck, there is enough stuff still floating around that requires you to dig through ole imperial spanners and hex keys to work on them. Keeps the brain ticking over and up to speed on it all!!
Oh and Hank, that was a baaaaad pun!! There ought to be a law against that somewhere!Andy249
