Hi everyone,
I liked all the nice and insightful comments on welding with the kids. Well me and the kid have some hard facing to do on some hard steel. I have a company that has a concrete block mold that's worn pretty good and they need me to make 25,000 retaining wall blocks starting on Sat. The o.e.m. needs 6 weeks min. to produce the parts. I told them that I would bring them to my shop and build them up and hard face them. I know that this works I've done it plenty of times in the past. I have never used my mig however. This finally brings me to my question... What wire should I use? The steel is a rockwell 72 - 76. I don't really know the exact make up but I've built up parts in the past with 7018 and have run a Lincoln wearshield stock # ED021996 over that. Then a lot of time with a grinder and polisher I have a usable part. So any advice from any of the GOOROS on the site would be very much appreciated!
