Okay, I need to get my man something for graduation. He is going to be an offical welder in Tig. What should I get him that he is actually going to use that won't make me go broke? Thanks! Jodechik
Welcome to the board! Congrats on your man's graduation! My opinion as a good gift if price isnt a factor is to get the Miller Dynasty 200DX. Hawk (a member here), has one and he will tell you how good this little powerful machine! I wish I have one..but I cant afford it! hahaha...
On the lower end of the spectrum there are two accessories he will want to have at hand. One being a quality hood , the other a tungsten grinder. Each can be had for less than $300. Check with Miller on a Big Window Elite hood and ArcZone.com on a Sharpie grinder.
looks like you got it all in the first 2 trys all three ideals are right on thr money if you need to go to the lower end or just want to add another to your list a set of good tig gloves would be nice at about $20.00ish
BTW the dynasty 200 DX is right about $2000.00 for the box and another $700.00ish for the torch and accesorys. (im saving up for 1 right now )
if you do go for the dynasty dont let the sailsmen talk you into the SD modle the extras on the DX are werth the differance in price.
of corce if you do get him the dynasty you probly shouldnt tell us you might get swamped with e-mail requests for marige .
good luck and happy welding to youre man
thanks for the help

If the advice so far is still too expensive, look on e-bay under "welding". There are a lot of deals on auto-darkening helmets. The Miller Big Window Elite, Hornel Speedglas 9000 series, Uvex optrel series are all top-of-the-line, big $$ hoods, but there are a lot of much cheaper, very adequate hoods available. The big deal is the "viewing area". The high $$ units have bigger windows.
If you get stuck, get back to us - we'll help!!
Congratulations to your newly graduated significant other, and to you for getting into this forum!!
Be well.

No, sorry I don't have any sisters whom you would like. Thank you for all the ideas and trust me, if I brought home the Miller Dynasty 200DX I am sure he would marry me. Anyway, thanks again. Ya'll have a great night. Jodechik
i would be verry carful geting a cheap helmit off e-bay serch some (most) cheap helmits are just that cheap!!! tig by nature has low ark light and i wouldnt trust my eys to a cheepo . there are some good companys online that will get you into a good helmit for less right now i know you can get the big window eleat for $225.00 with free shipping. that is a deal werth doing they will also get you into a standerd size window helmit at around $150.00. with no tax and no shiping that is werth doing dont trust his eyes to a cheepo there is much more than just window size differances . would you buy a $2.00 pair if steletoes no cuz you know the heel will break off and break your ankle. a cheap auto window is not good see this poast
there are good helmits out there for a good price i would not recomend a cheepo.
happy gifting

A super-flex cable and torch are a nice upgrade that adds a high level of comfort and flexability. I purchaed mine from Tigdepot.com and they were very fast and knowledgeable. Good Luck, JEFF
