millermatic 250

I CURRENTLY HAVE A MILLERMATIC 130 FOR BODY WORK.AND A SYNCROWAVE 180 FOR ARC AND TIG.I HAVE BEEN WANTING TO GET A BIGGER MIG WELDER FOR LARGER MIG PROJECTS ,AND I FOUND AN OLDER MILLERMATIC 250, @20 YRS OLD BUT NOT USED MUCH FOR $600. WHEN DID MILLER START AND STOP MAKING THESE WELDERS? AND IS THERE ANY PROBLEMS I SHOULD BE AWARE OF AND CAN THESE WELDERS STILL BE REPAIRED IF NEEDED.

The Millermatic 250 was built from early 1989 until 1998 when it was replaced in the Miller line with the Millermatic 250X. There were no major issues with this unit and there are many of them out there being used every day.

Just about every part used in that machine is still available through the Miller Parts department. In fact a number of parts that were used in production of that machine are still being used in current products.

Are you sure it's a 250?? At 20yrs old, it would have been a MM200.
Get the serial # if possible and we can tell you alot more.

oldcardoc , that is the great thing about buying a Miller welder. 20 years old is still like a current model when it comes to getting parts. I still have lot's of customers running Millermatic 200's, and still getting parts for them. 250 or 200, if it is half decent shape, it will make you a great machine...

WENT TO LOOK AT THE (250)MILLERMATIC TODAY IT WAS NOT A 250 IT WAS A MILLERMATIC 35 SERIAL # JC654605. WHAT CAN YOU TELL ME ABOUT THIS WELDER? IT LOOKS LIKE IT CAN BE USED AS AN ARC WELDER ALSO IF YOU HAVE THE LEADS.THE WELDER WELDS FINE AND I TRIED IT ON A 1/2" PIECE OF STEEL. WHAT IS THE THICKEST MATERIAL THIS WELDER SHOULD BE USED TO WELD? CAN YOU GET A NEW GUN FOR THIS MACHINE ALSO ?

Doubt it will stick weld. There is another thread here regarding gun/parts for the 35 and according to Scott the parts are available. Good that you posted the eserial number; that makes it easier to pinpoint parts.

The Millermatic 35 is the original forerunner the Millermatic 210. It is rated at 150 amps, 23 Volts, at 60% duty cycle. By comparison, the MM210 is rated at 160 amps, 24.5 volts at 60% duty cycle. While the 210 has an amperage range 0f 3-210 amps, I am not certain what the MM35 's full range is. I would guess it around 185 on the top end.

$600.00 may be a little steep for this machine, but then again, I am not able to see the condition. With that serial number, it should have a GA-20C gun on it, which parts are available for, so no need to buy a new gun.You may have to order parts though, not many dealers will have them on the shelf anymore. I guess when you consider a new 210 at around $1200.00, it will get you in the same class machine for about half the money.

acording to youre serial # the 35 was made in 1982 not shoure if that matters to you but might help in nagotions on price. looks like all else has ben coverd.

$600 sounds a little steep for a MM-35.

I would have to be a pretty cherry machine to go for $400 (for a bare machine) around here. Add some dollars for after market gun and/or cylinder and upgrade regulator/flometer. IIRC these machines sold for about $900 to $1000 new.
