  • Miller Matic 30E Wire unit

What Miller power sources are compatibal and/or required to use a Miller Matic 30E Wirefeed unit?

You probably already know that the user's manual is no longer available on-line. No doubt a Miller rep will answer your question soon...

    Be well.

      Wow!!

Was this from an ancient dig?

That unit most likely has the 2 and 3 pin twist lock cord. It was a 115Volt feeder that worked with the old CP200 and CP300 as well as some other older CV welders with the 115v control circuit.

What do you plan on doing with it?

        30E Connection

        Hi,

I have the 30E, it does indeed have a twist lock on it, and connects to my CP200 front panel.

Is a manual available by ordering a paper copy?

        Thanks,
        Jess

The feeder will run on any welder that has 115v for feeders. Miller had a Y connector that had 14 pin to twist lock. Just for all the old feeders. With the adapter you could run it on an XMT 304. Or get a plug kit and change the plugs to a 14 pin plug.

I also have a millermatic 30A wire feed drive unit

I would like to connect it to my syncrowave 200 but am having a hard time figuring it out. The unit was in my dads storage for several years but he stated it worked great so that is why he held onto it during the move. Any help would be nice. I have all of the cords and lead but am unsure about the attachment of the power lead from the welder.

That Millermatic 30A is not going to work on your Syncrowave 200 Max as the MM30A requires a CV (constant voltage - also known as constant potential) power source whereas the SW200 is a CC (constant current) machine.

Don't even try it. The pin connections on a tig welder are different than on a mig welder. They look the same but the contactor circuit maybe DC voltage. If you were to get the 115 vac power mixed up with the contactor, The control pcb dies.
Besides what Duane said is correct

the other thing is a Sync 200 doesn't have the amps to use a wire feeder even if it was a voltage sensing CC version.

I used .035 flux core and my 12VS and had to run it ***** out to get a half way decent bead. let alone the erratic wire feed due to the CC power source.

Just a big waste of time Get a CV power source and do it right. you'll be happy you did and cussing if you don't

                      Thanks for the quick responses.

Thanks for all the information I will look for another Mig welder to do the body work I have to do.
