Welding schools

I just finished baisc 1 and 2 welding courses at a local tech school. I did a lot of brazing/stick and mig but the class just barely touch on tig. The little of it I did do I enjoyed it very much and I would like to learn and weld more. Can any one point me in the direction of a good school?

Just to let you all know my welding was done on miller welders.

How close are you to NH? The tech school in Manchester has a 1 semester hands on TIG class at night and more in depth day classes (lab & lecture).

As for equipment they have everything...esab, lincoln, miller, linde and others I didnt get a good look at.

Thanks for the quick reply I am about 1 1/2 hours away. I think I am leaning more towards a school with 1-2 week 8hr day classes It bug me to wait a week for the next class

I work at The Hobart Institute of Welding Technology and we offer individual classes as well as complete programs. If you are just looking for a tig class our GTAW-Basic course is two weeks long and class runs from 8:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. five days a week. This class usually starts every 2 or 3 weeks year round. The school is located in Troy Ohio and we also use all Miller welders. You can check out our website and get some info sent to you at www.welding.org. Best of luck.

Joshua at what tech school did you take the basic welding courses? I also live in Mass and was thinking about taking some classes but I havent found any close by.

Linkpin I hope to see you there. Our student to instructor ratio usually will not exceed 12 to 1 if so they will add another instructor in the class to help. The GTAW basic course will start with 11 ga. carbon steel then to .060 stainless and finish with 1/8" aluminum. Best of luck.

I can highly recommend the Hobart Institute. Any of our people who have attended any training there were greatly impressed. Good School, Good Equipment, Good Instructors...

Diddo on Hobart! Great instructors and friendly staff. Did a guest talk there a couple years ago and Mr. Pratt was very helpful.

Andy Phil Pratt is no longer at the institue. I would say about a year ago Andre Odermatt took over as president (I was on the road a lot teaching so I don't exactly remember the exact date). After reading your post I just put two and two together and remebered your visit (great stuff). Things are going great at the school. I am always amazed at the number of students that come to Hobart. It is truly a great place for welders to start their career. Take care.
