  • The final chapter

I am happy to report that both Miller products are performing flawlessly. I just ops checked the Bobcat and it is sweet. Ran a three inch bead with a 6011, which I normally don't care for, and it laid down smooth as silk.

The Big Window Elite performed better than expected and is great for us seasoned citizens wearing tri-focals.I look forward to many welding projects using both.

Andy, can't thank you enough for making this forum available.

Last but not least; I want to thank all of you for helping me through this project. Y'all exercised patience that I can only dream of having.

      Moe,
Great news. Put some hours on that baby and let me know how the couplers hold up. Whatcha planin to do about the auto idle? I was wondering if you could use the idle solenoid from a Plus model or NT Bobus Catus with a Kohler.?.?

        Final chapter

        Don,

I plan to use the solenoid from the Onan for the run/idle function. (Have to keep this project under $400.)Just have to figure out how to mount it.

As I said in a PM to you, I wouldn't use the Magnaloy couplings again. They suck big time.... but I will keep them installed until they fail and then install the Lovejoys I already have in the wings..

If I knew how to post a picture here I would show all my modified Bobus Catus (you got me doin it now Don..)

I'm already having my son keep his eye out for a suitcase and TIG gun at his shop. They throw out good stuff with minor problems.

For those who don't know my story, I got this machine gratis because the Onan (old style) had thrown a rod. I added old style because the newer Onans apparently are much improved. We got this info thanks to Heiti's research. I repowered with Kohler because I have always had great service from them.

            The final chapter???

            Heiti,

I have some final tweeking to perform on the Bobcat, then I have to finish the rehab on a IH Cub tractor I couldn't live without. It will involve some delicate welding on the hood. Bubba hacked it up with a chain saw for an access door. Thanks to some here I have a plan of attack for that project.

I think I will take a breather after I return from Sturgis SD. Then I will plan the next project. The mother of all projects. It involves a welder, generator and a six cyl chevy engine.

May you all live long and prosper.

I got my ideas for the idle from the owners manual of a Bobus 225 NT with a Kohler. Might help. The solenoids are a bit different. Not sure if it is a machine difference or an engine thing.
I just sent you a PM with an update on mine. You'll have to get the pics of the cub hood up so we can see the progress. Have you tried to post any yet? You may have to downsize them with your computer or take smaller ones with the camera. I still have to downsize at 640 x 480.

If you have any sucess with a suitcase and find more than one, I know of a good foster home that would take excellent care of it!

                Don

BTW, Bobus Catus is from a friend of mine. He coined it to refer to his skidsteer and now he uses it for mine. It seems to get stuck in the old brain, doesn't it?
