looking for a plasma cutter for mostly 14 gage mild steel.i was recently told thermal dynamics drag-gun would be a better gun?? i would deffenetly prefer a miller to any brand as miller has always been good to me.bolth machines have a 12V constant output , miller has a beter duty cycle 35% insted of 30% but i was told miller is new to the plasma cutting and i should go with a longturm cut comp.price is not a concern but i need to be mobile and run off generator with minimal draw. im thinking millers line voltage compensation will be a big help here.has anyone used eather of theas (especily the miller)on a generator that can give advice. would realy like to stick with miller but cant afford to have problems? dose miller have the cut thing worked out???

I bought the Spectrum 625 in january for $1599.00 and I could not be happier with it. I didn't know if plasma would work for my needs, I work on construction equipment and I do welding and repair work too. This machine is great! I only use my Oxy/Act torch for heating now. With plasma I would recomend getting the biggest unit you can afford for two reasons, some day you might need the thicker cut and the bigger the capacity the better the duty cycle.
I read the 2004 Miller Catalogue on the 125, It didn't say if it is Drag and or stand off. The 625 does both and I think they both work great!
As for Miller dependability, I bought a MM 210 MIG a couple years ago, doing my homework, I went to a local independent welder repair shop and ask his opinion of the 210 before I bought one, he said "If It's Blue, Buy It". So far he has been right!

blue buy it
have a mm135 got it for field work. couldnt be happierlooking for small plasma cutter to use in field (built in air)has to be small with litle draw on compreser as it will be runing saw, mm135, drill , and plasma cutter (not all at same time) but i dont want to overwork generator with extra air compressor if avoidable.
i love my blue just wanted to know if they cut like they weld or if its not there field and i should look to another manufac.?
anyone have or use a small plasma ?thanks for the help

Now since I don't work for Miller, I can be perfectly honest..They did have their problems with plasma....in the past. IMHO those days are way behind them. The present Spectrum line takes a backseat to nobody.
Miller uses Hypertherm torch technology, a marriage that benefitted both Miller, with the torch technology, and Hypertherm, with Millers inverter technology.
There was a day when I would say that one should buy a Plasma from a company who specialized in plasma, not anymore. Besides Miller getting it's act together and putting out a graet plasma, the Hypertherm torch is leaps and bounds ahead of the Thermal unit. Buy the Miller and never look back...

fun4now,
I have a 2050 and love it! I have had the pleasure to put a 625 through its paces. The 375 is a nice unit and a larger input cord on the 375 makes all the difference in the world. I would have to think the 125 follows suit. However, ALWAYS BUY A PLASMA RATED FOR A LARGER CLEAN CUT THAN WHAT YOU WILL BE CUTTING.
Miller does make their own plasma power soruces and uses the Hypertherm torches. The HT and Miller torch consumables are not interchangeable. However, their performance is excellent!
I am a fan of what works best for me. It just happens to be that most of my stuff is blue.
