  • Found The Problem

Well I tried cleaning the solenoid from the outside of the machine and this did not work so I opened up the side panel and found the problem. There are two screw holes that are supposed to hold the valve together and there was only one screw. Then upon a closer inspection I realized that the second screw had been broken off which caused the plastic caseing on the valve to have a gap and not shut all the way.
The machine is brand new and I was hoping that somebody could help me get a replacement part or help solve the problem.
    Thank you in advance
    Kyle

I'm sure that Miller or your dealer will take perfect care of you (speaking from experience). Sometimes it is nice to find a simple fix to a problem that has been a mystery(experience again...). Good luck, JEFF

      Kyle:
That is the Analytical prize. You found a real problem, and bam- know that has to be it. It may seem more like the boobie prize but the ability to trouble shoot and analize troubles is a gift for the finder. Congratulations, you win. I am sure if there is any problem with the repair Andy will help you.

      Be good,

Contact Miller or your closest dealer. Warranty repairs should be done by the dealer. Also post this at Hobart Weld Talk. Several Miller/Hobart employees check in regularly and should be able to help you.

            Canuck:
I would let a miller certified service center do the repair. This is often how recalls start they see a given problem in several in a series of production numbers then it tips them off to a larger problem if there is one.
            good luck,

I would love to take it to the dealer that I bought it from but as always things are not that easy. The machine wieghs in at about 250+lbs and I don't have a truck or regular acsess to one. On top of that the dealer I bought it from is about an hours drive I would not feel safe having my welding machine in the back of truck going down the highway even if ti was tied down. I am going to phone the company to see if they can send a service rep to make the fix but it's all very frustrating when I now that I could fix it. Thanks for all the help so far and I hope that I solve this thing fast.

Glad to hear you found the problem... Would have responded sooner but computer issues left me stranded for awhile

If you want to fix it your self, it's an easy repair. I still need all your machine info to do a service file on it to track failures.
                Need:
                Serial number
                Machine stock number
                Approx purchase date

                name and address.

You may email me directly if you don't want this info out in forum land.

                [email protected]

Looks like I need a new solenoid. I could not get screw out and I did not want to drill and Tap.

Andy, I was hoping you might be able to help me get a new one shipped out to me as soon as is possible. Did you get my email?

I can send you one but have not got your e-mail yet. Please try to resend and I'll check it Saturday. I'll be stuck at the races all day and night 2day.

                    Andy

                        Kyle,

                        Try me at [email protected]

                        Maybe that one will work.
