Just got a steel price increase notification.... again!!!
An increase of 8% is set for June 1. I should have gone into steel production. At least that way I would be giving the increase notices instead of getting them! My supplier is cool about honoring his quotes for 60 days atleast.

    My rant of the minute!

Not only has the steel price more than doubled, it's costing me $2.29 a gallon for the gas to go get it!!

    Be well.

OOF! And I was complaining about $1.69 diesel! Don't know how I would act at that price.
All together, all the steel increases here have come to a 38% increase since January this year.

      Andy,
How will these increases affect Miller's pricing? I'm sure it will at some point raise the costs. Will it cause another increase in addition to the regular yearly increase? Just wondering what Detroit will do to vehicle prices as a result. I've been told by the local CASE dealer that tractor parts and new inventory will be going up substantially in the near future. There's lots of steel in those babies!

          hankj,

I had to turn in my company diesel 3/4 ton truck & visa card and am now feeling the $2+ gas crunch too!

Don't know what Miller's plans are, but the Red Competitor just announced a mid year price increase on equipment, effective June 1st. From 1-1/2 to 3%, brought on by rising steel and copper prices.

I just ran the conversions from downunder prices to the good ole US of A prices and worked out that we are paying 2.75/gallon for fuel (and it is tipped to go at least another 6 to 10 cents higher!).

Our steel prices are also on the rise just like you guys have been saying, my suppliers are telling me it is because China has bought nearly all of the global steel stocks? (I think this would be a simplified way of saying that steel isn't that easy to come by at the moment.)

And to compound that problem, here in Australia people have been buying up big in real estate and in my local area house prices have climbed nearly 300% compared to 5 years ago!! Oh the joys of living in Australia!!

Although I have to say that the price of me getting an XMT 350 imported has quite surprised me and hopefully I can go ahead with this purchase in the next 6 or 7 weeks. Happy Days!!!

              Regards,

                Andy249,

Glad to hear the XMT350 is close to reality! When is the Dynasty 300DX slated to arrive? Dream weaver?

                  Hawk,

Not longer than 3 or 4 months at the most (or at least that is when I envisage it). I'm looking at getting it with the TIG runner package. They say it is in a knockdown form and for an extra $200 they can assemble it for me, would you recommend that they do it? I reckon I may be able to learn more about the machine if I do it myself, I have a reasonable degree of nouse (or so I believe!) so I think I would be able to handle it. So any comments from the Dynasty Guru/Fanclub would be appreciated.

                    Andy249,

The knockdown form is the D300DX (be sure to get the DX) in a box, the Coolmate 3 in a box, and the disassembled roll around cart/bottom drawer in a box. The torch package and regulator in a box also. It is no trouble to assemble: The Dynasty sits on top of the Coolmate 3 and attaches with a screw in each corner. Then the bolted unit sits on the cart and attaches with another 4 bolts (1 on each corner). The in /out fittings for the torch are clearly marked and the water lines are left hand with the gas line being a right hand thread. Remember the power cable (red on Miller's Diamondback 20) is the torch input for the Coolmate's output. Go for it in knock down form. It is cheaper and you will know more about your unit!

                      Thanks Hawk,

You confirmed what I thought! And it looks pretty straight forward to boot, should I expect anything else from Miller? I'll be sure to keep everyone posted on my progress if people are interested. Time to go do some more work!

                      Regards,
