  • Dynasty 200 dx

    Hi,

A new Dynasty 200 dx showed up at my house today! I have a couple of quick questions. First when I bought my MM251 it came with a video. Is there one for the Dynasty series? If so can I purchase one? Second all the consumable parts from my tig class seem to fit the Diamondback torch. Everything seems to screw together just fine, but the collet with the gas lense won't tighten up enough to hold the tungsten. Is all this stuff a standard size or is diamondback different? I like gas lenses, they seem to make a more uniform gas flow around the tungsten.

    Hoping to be welding soon,

    whatter,

I had a nice post prepared and went to another site for a link and lost it! TIG torches are different. The Miller DB included with the contractor kit is a #17 series torch. Depending on the series number the torch is either air cooled, like the #17 or water cooled like a #20. You either have the wrong series torch parts or have possibly mixed up the collet and collet body. I have done it before. Maybe you have a 3/32" collet body and are trying to insert a .040" tungsten. I am not making fun here. Sometimes the simple things can stump us. Here is a great link on different series of torches. Each manufacturer's parts will usually fit the same series torch. http://www.arcsmith.com/wni/products...e/texplode.htm

      whatter,

If there is a video out on this machine I am not aware of it. Take your time and read the manual. From there it is try and see. If you need help with pulse rates and usage, just let us know or email me through the forum. The factory defaults suit most user needs, but a number of parameters can be changed for better arc starts depending on tungsten size, type, shield gas mix, etc.

Nope, no video yet on the Dynasty. We really didn't think that the home user would be a primary market and that most people that were purchasing Dynastys were already tig users. I'm glad to see it move into that area as it really is a top of the line piece of equipment that most everyone can afford.

Maybe with enogh requests, they will produce a video

Have fun with the new toy!

          Dynasty 200 dx

Thanks for the information. The torch I was using in school was a 17 series torch, weldcraft I think???? Any way I used the same collet, cup, and tungsten I had been using in school. It is probably different. I plan to buy a gas lense and insulator cup to fit the torch. When you are as rotten a welder as I am you need all the help you can get. I have read the book and its not that hard to use, I just have to piddle with it. One of the things I really like about the machine is its size. This really beats having another 200 lb "boat anchor" in my garage. The question about the video was just a shot in the dark.

One suggestion for the Miller guys. For not very much I'll bet you could add a USB port and some memory. Users could store a bunch of settings for different types of welding and not have to write anything down. Its just a thought, after all you already have memory on some models. This forum has been a godsend for neophyte welders seeking information.

          Thanks again,
