    Went to an action today, I appeared to be pretty smart when I could tell people the years of the miller equipment that was up for bid. Andy and this forum rules!

    Jeff,

    Here's the top secret way. For the most part, this works and will get you within a year or so.

    The first two letters indicate the year.

    Example.

    A=0
    B=1
    C=2
    D=3
    E=4
    F=5
    G=6
    H=7
    J=8
    K=9
    L=2000

    A serial number starting with KG123456 was made sometime in 1996. Today we are using "LE" serial numbers. We don't use the letter I 'cause it looks too much like a 1.

    Hope this helps.

    Andy

    determining age of equipment

    How do you determine the age of a piece of Miller equipment by the serial number? It would be helpful to know when looking at a piece that is at a sale. Thanks, JEFF
