Hawk, you are right about the 300...I ran the one in the lab at the school where I work when I was convincing myself to move into the 200 from my Red 175. A person has to see the different arc characteristics in action to really understand the real benefit.(I wish I could say that I fully understood all the things these can do). But the best use I've had so far is the time my 15 year old son and I have spent in the garage trying to learn it together so It's already worth more than whatever it cost!

    Jeff and Andy,

I too figured around 4KW on 240VAC would sufficiently power the D200DX to its maximum output. However, when I ran the 200DX from a Bluestar 180 with 5KW continuous I was only able to achieve right at 198 amps of TIG and 168 amps of stick. I called and had Miller's TIG and Engine Drive applications techs double check me and apparently paper does not always equal reality. They got the same results.

    Jeff,

BIG 10-4 to test driving the D200DX. If you get the chance fire up a D300DX, do it! The 200 is awesome and the 300 is beyond words!

Thanks Andy, I thought it would but was hoping for confirmation before I tried it. I don't think I'll need to use it out of the race trailer but it's good to know how versatile that machine can be. I hope to meet you at the PRI show this year. I probably walked past you last year as I circled the both several times. JEFF P.S. To anyone who is looking at TIG machines you NEED to run one of these before you can make any decicion you'll be happy with.

    Jeff,
I will work fine at those settings! Even at 3000 watts, the Dynasty should give around 150amps and if you are using the 230Volt power, the Dynasty should give full output as running it at 200 amps is only about 3700 watts.

    Have fun!

    Andy

    200DX on a 4000w generator

I was wondering if anyone has run a Dynasty 200 DX on an Onan 4000w generator. I know what the owners manual says in terms of input at rated output but I'm really thinking about the 0 to 75 or 80 amp range. This RV style unit is a 110v. Thanks, JEFF
