  • Gas Flow

I am using .035 wire with Argon/02 gas 24.5 volts 200 amps. What should the gas flow be set at?
    Thanks

I run 20-28cfh, I give a range if your shop has moving air or a draft it might take the higher end of the scale. I have run as high as 35cfh but I believe it just wastes gas and doesn't do any extra for the weld. Also if you look up a machine on the products button, upper left it will give you a typical setup for that machine, this covers the norm and adjust as necessary from there.

    Peace,

      Wayne,

If you are seeing porosity in you welds, then turn down the gas flow. I rarely push more than 15-22 CFH. I use the lower setting on fillets. The reason why is too much gas flow can actually create a turbulence that will draw in the atmosphere and contaminate the weld. This can happen with MIG and TIG torch set ups.
