  • 320 A/BP Help

Ihave a S-52E, wire feeder on my old Millermatic 35. Can the S-52E be used to Mig, with a 320 A/BP, as the power source? I saw a 330 A/BP, on E-bay that had a label to turn the high frequency off. Also to use DC-, for Migging. Is this possible?

    Thank you for any help,

    Hillbilly

    Hillbilly,

This machine is pretty much a straight forward Tig work horse. I don't think you will have much success running wire with it.

      Welcome Hillbilly,

The answer to your question is a big no! The S52E feeder you have is not a voltage sensing feeder and therefore can't be used on a constant current machine like your ABP. It is used on constant voltage machines like the CP200 or your MM35.

      Hope this helps.

        Hillbilly,

I think the 320 A/BP is very similar to my 330 A/BP, just that yours is duty rated at 200 amps and mine is 300.

Went through a similar thought process, that is, trying to drive a wirefeed with the A/BP. The issue is that the A/BP series is a constant current power source, and according to Andy, that requires a voltage sensing wirefeeder which will try to act like a constant voltage machine. The result being a very narrow application window.

Although I was trying to use a different wire feeder (3045 FC), so your case may be more practical than mine was. Hopefully, Andy will have a moment to address your particular combo.

Is that Andy quick or what?? I think his keyboard is more aerodynamic than mine. This could require a rule change!!
