I'm new here and have a couple of questions. I'm thinking of buying a Maxstar 200. I'm going to be using it for frame work, mostly on trucks. ( air bag set-ups, rear-end link set-ups and a good deal of sheet metal. The thickest I'll weld is 5/16 (rare) and the thinest is 20 ga. Will the Maxstar 200 be good for this? Any help or input would be great. Thanks- Jeff

JMH,
The Maxstar 200 is a great little machine. I owned one for a year or so, it did not get a lot of use since I moved on to the Dynasty for AC capabilities. It will do 20 gauge and much thinner with no problems. The 5/16" may happen in a single pass or it make take 2 passes. It will definitley happen in one pass with some preheat. Get the DX model with the pulse. You will really appreciate it for anything less than .065". Check with Andy. He had a really nice used one on his trailer last week.

I agree with HAWK... The Maxstar will do you just fine! I have guys at Hendrick's doing all the suspension parts with the Maxstar 200 and they love it. It's also nice to be able to move it around the shop 'cause it's so portable.
Good luck
Andy

Andy,
Do you still have the really nice used Maxstar that was on your trailer last week?
JMH,
If this unit is still available, it is a real sweetheart of a machine. I had a chance to check it out. It looks and welds like brand new and I think it still has some factory warranty.

As far as I know it's still there. It is a premo unit, hardly used. E-mail me directly for info.

Thanks HAWK
