I bought the MM135 last August and immediately began to ruin perfectly good metal as fast as I could. Being a total newbe then, I had no idea what the machine (or I) was capable of. After a LOT of help, a LOT of questions, and GREAT support from the folks on this forum, I can tell you that the machine is capable of virtually any mild steel project, given that for thicker material, it'll take longer to multi-pass weld than it would to do single pass with a bigger machine.

Knowing what I know now, I would have bought the MM210 for it's out-of-the box aluminum capability with a spool gun, and I'll probably go there later this year.

Whatever you decide, I think you'll enjoy using a Millermatic.

I just purchased a millermatic 175 a few weeks ago. I have not welded in almost 14 years, and did a crappy job back then due to no knowledge, and a bad (snap-on) machine.

All I can say is that within an hour or so, I was doing some very nice work on 18ga, 1/8" (butt and fillet), and 1/8-1/4" (fillet weld)mild steel just using the settings on the machine as a starting point, and tweaking from there.

I could not be more happy with the machine, both in quality, price, and performance so far. I am plugging it into my dryer outlet and running a 50' 10ga cord out to the garage for the machine right now. No problems whatsoever.

I bought the bigger machine, as I simply wanted the "option" of welding thicker material than the 135 would allow. Can't go wrong either way, but I would say if you have the power, and the few extra bux, get the bigger machine.

Now I just have to figure out how to save up the money (and justify) a Dynasty 200DX so I can learn to TIG and also weld aluminum, etc!!!!!

What are you wanting to use the machine for. This is the defining info, please be specific to get an accurate response.

The obvious differences are that the 135 is 12o volt and the 175 is 240 volt. You will need a 20 amp circuit for either unit. I have used several 130-135 amp machines and they have a place in the shop, but for someone looking to buy one machine I think the 175 is a better choice. You will have capability for heavier welding.

I would like to know which would be the better welder a MM135 or aMM175? can i use a MM175 with out having special electric service? Does any one have either of these welders and what are there positives and negatives?
