  • 8vs suit case vs the LN-25

    Hi everyone,
I have another question. I was all ready to order a 8VS or 12VS suit case wire feeder when the guy at the welding store told me about a friend of his that has a Lincoln LN-25 wire feeder that is less then 1yr old and was used about 10 hours. At first I wasn't interested but he kept telling me what a great deal it was. Lets see the deal is this- The LN-25 and he also has a 10 foot gun and a 15 foot gun. All for $1200.00. I stopped tonight and welded with the thing. It worked great. I had a really nice looking bead after about 30 sec. I was impressed how easy it was to use. So what do ya think? A new 8VS 1100.00 A new 12VS $1500.00 or a very nice used LN-25 $1200.00. Let me know what ya think. Topper

    Topper,
I purchased an LN-25 a couple months back and after finding the "sweet" spot have had really good luck using it in the field. It does take a bit of practice using th 25 after being used to a MM210 unit, I've been using both .045 cored and .035 solid wire with great success. As for the price, a NEW 25 list for 1700 plus 300 for a magnum gun and your price is a little over 1000, not bad ,but see if you can cut a little better deal. Might suggest to the dealer that you can pick one up off e-bay for 900, see if that gets a better deal!!

      Hi MACH4,
Thanks for getting back to me. I think it sounds like a good deal also. I just wasn't sure about the LN-25. Like I said, it's got 2 guns It also has a couple of rolls of wire with it.I'll probably pick it up. The dealer doesn't own it he is just trying to help a friend of his. (PRIVATE DEAL NO TAX)... Topper,

The Lincoln 25 has been around a while and is a very tough feeder. The money sounds right. I rented several LN25 feeders when I had my Bobcat. I think the Miller is some more ergonomic, but for the feeder and 2 guns I'd go Lincoln at that price. Maybe you could even make a counter offer like mach4 suggested. I guess it depends on how bad he wants to sell.

          Topper,
I agree with Hawk... The LN25 has been in the industry for quite a few years with hardly any changes. It is a sound unit and with any voltage sensing feeder, there will always be an adjustment to it's arc characteristics. With the feeder only a year old, you can't go wrong.(I hate to say that)

          Good luck!
