  • Miller finger tip control HELP!!

    Ordered a N/S for the 200DX and got a E/W
Never used one, but thinks the N/S would be less of a problem on my WP17.

Any suggestions on which is the most user friendly??
Have to decide if I want to exchange by Friday.......

    Thanks,
    gb

    GWB,

I have the RCCS 14 which is part number 043 688. This is what is usually called the north /south control. It is very good for fine amperage control. However, it is hard to get a quick ramp up. It sounds like you received the RCC-14 part number 151 086. This one is better suited to quick ramp up. I have the north/south and the heavy duty food contol. I like both. The N/S is on my #17 and the pedal is used with my water colled #20.

On the other hand: Do a search for hand controllers on this forum and you will find a number of people absolutely oppossed to them and are switching to the foot pedals.

Bottom line is neither hand control is user friendy without considerable practice and patience. I bought mine at a garage sale and really like it!

      Thanks Hawk.
I would be using mine for .062 - .125 DOM tube. I guess fine control would be better?
I do have a foot control, but I find that out of position may be needing the hand control??

        GB,
Any hand control you get will be a little bit of a learning curve. I have both and only use them when I absolutely can't use the foot control. I like the N/S a little more because I find it disturbs the torch less when I'm moving it. Some prefer the other. I guess What bothers me is that you got the wrong one from whomever ordered it from MILLER. I would hope that it's not a MILLER issue of the wrong one being place in the order.

          If anyone is interested
I would like to trade my N/S(used very little) for a E/W.
I used the E/W at tech. school and liked it better. For myself anyway.

            GWB,

I have found that raising the work up is one way to keep using the foot pedal. If the work is high enough, I stand up rather than sit at the bench and still use the foot control for out of position. I think the fine amperage control would suit your needs best. As far as ramp up you can crank your machine way up and will hit the desired current quicker with the N/S control- RCCS 14 which is part number 043 688.
