what lens shade are you guys using?

It really largely depends on the amperage you are using, and also the duration you are welding for (if I'm working on a large project and welding all day, I'll use a higher shade than if I'm doing a quick repair), and your level of comfort. Thats the reason most better auto darkening helmets are adjustable, some externally on the fly. Myself, for most Tig welding I do between 50-120A, I use a Shade 9 or 10, for Plasma Cutting 20-30A a shade 5.

< 100A #10
100-175 #11
175-300 #12
300-500 #13

TIG
< 50A #10
50-100 #11
100-200 #12
200-400 #13
===============
These are guidlines and I know as I have gotten older, I have had to lighten up a little. Most of my MIG welding is done at #10-#11 and most of my TIG is at #11 unless I'm at a real low amperage.
